Do you think your mother would approve of your relationship with Aria? And do you think she would like Liselle?

“She…is one of the few who foresaw our relationship prior to it’s budding.” Tevos admits, “She watched us grow together. Saw how we looked at each other, before even we noticed. And yes, I do. My mother was fond of children, and even though she had less free time than I, she dedicated it to spending time with my sister and me. She also occasionally read aloud to the children who came to visit her in the embassies. I always attended. It was nice to hear her laugh, so rare as she did.”

Mother’s Day

liselletloak:

Liselle’s never actually done anything for Mother’s Day. Being cut off from Tevos for a good fifteen years makes that hard, and before that she just wasn’t able to do anything for her.

It was also that day that she learned just how little she actually knew her mother and her interests. That’s just a little irritating, but the problem was solved by people saying that flowers are always a nice thing to give one’s mother if you can’t think of much else. So, she does just that. Just a few Thessian flowers, something to brighten her work space some.

She’s nervous for some reason. She has no idea how Tevos will react, or if she will even know the date. It is a human holiday of sorts, after all.

A few minutes of pacing near the Embassies, and she walks up to where her mother’s office is. She had checked and double checked to make sure that she would actually be there, and be there alone. No calls, no meetings.

She glances around briefly to make sure no one is watching, and then heads in, ignoring the secretary’s confused questions in her direction. She slips into her mother’s office, back pressed against the wall as if something’s going to get her from behind. She keeps the little bouquet of flowers out in front of her, though.

“Hey, Mom,” she says, her voice a little quieter than she would have liked.

Sitting quietly at her desk, intent on work, Tevos does not hear her door open and close. She is quickly typing, and it is likely the tkka-tkka sound is drowning out her hearing, at least a bit

When she’s called, however, her eyes escape from that seemingly impossible bubble the rest of her body is stuck in. That bubble is the cloud of work always surrounding the councilor.

“Oh, Liselle,” Tevos smiles, her slumping shoulders now straight. “How are you today?”

She surprisingly doesn’t realize what day it is, despite a general rule floating around that she needs to know each holiday, regardless of race. It’s pointless, but it makes her appear better to the general public; obviously all of whom are not asari.

She hasn’t slept in two…or three…nights, and she definitely does appear a bit disoriented, but through all her best efforts is holding herself together well.

She stands to meet her daughter by the door.

<p> Councilor Tevos invited Commander Shepard over for dinner this evening. She feels a personal responsibility to thank the man for saving her(as well as her colleagues) on several occasions and hopes…

“Older clothing appeals more to my tastes than new,” she says, in reference to her nearly unlimited supply of new dresses and shoes. “It holds more personal meaning and well, is likely made with finer, more durable materials than the new.”

She takes another sip of her wine, and gives a mildly resentful smile at his words. “Well,” the councilor replies, “I’d hope that anyone who saves someone else’s life be held in high regard—from everyone,” She says, a light smile on her face. “…Not just the person they saved. Councilors Sparatus and Valern send their regards, commander, they could not be here this evening.” That may or may not be a lie.

“So would I,” Dante agreed without indignation. He understood that the Council had their own affairs and people to look after. But their scope on the galaxy could be narrow. If he was going to stop the Reapers he needed all of the races to unite and stand together. Arguing solved nothing but it felt like banging his head against a brick wall sometimes.

“No great loss then.” The Commander smiled faintly. His opinions of Sparatus and Valern weren’t the best. “I’d rather have you to myself for the evening, Councilor.” His eyes flashed with a playful gleam. This was part of a game — a test to see how much of a person was beneath that stoic veneer.

He browsed the menu again and settled on a plate of rice and tandoori chicken. “I’m assuming you don’t have much free time with your work.”

A flash of both interest and surprise shine in Tevos’s eyes as her gaze meets his, but disappears just as quickly. He’d rather have her to himself? She never realized that he was such a…flirt.

“Well, the pleasure is mine, commander.” Tevos replies calmly, still attempting to hold her professionalism; to keep it from crumbling completely. That simply cannot happen.

“I don’t. In fact,” Tevos begins, resting her shoulders against the back of the chair, “I will likely be up most of the night, answering messages and whatnot. It is no different from any other night, however.” She replies formally, herself settling upon an asari dish very similar to soup. It also comes with rice. “And you, commander? I assume you do not get very much time to yourself, either.”

In celebration of Mother’s day, ask my muse anything about his/her mother

Might not even be on my phone too much anytime soon.

My phone shattered and I already sliced open my thumb and yes, my lip, on a shard of glass.

Thanks in advance ))

“Thank you,” Tevos replies, trying to maintain stoicism, though she can’t help the ghost of a smile that crosses her lips.

The councilor thanks him as she sits, her hands settling in her lap. She’s clearly flattered by the commander’s words, though she remains a certain air of professionalism about it. He’s…rather charming when not bickering with the council over the Reapers(although he is usually justified and correct).

“Would you like some wine?” She asks, planning to let him choose, since she doesn’t want to risk him not liking the white wine already on the table.

She plans to start the formalities until after they’ve ordered at least drinks, figuring that asking how he is prior to ordering may seem rushed, or anxious. She takes in a deep breath, a sip of her wine following. “I quite like your jacket,” she says into her glass, a small smile on her lips.
